The Aachen-based design engineering service provider M.TEC ENGINEERING participates in the 5th International Injection Molding Conference 2023 in Aachen, presenting an AI-based warpage and process optimization of an automotive support structure
The presentation's title is "AI-based warpage optimization of a multi-component part". Ulf Seefeldt, Business Development Manager at M.TEC and long-time development engineer in the field of plastics in the automotive industry, will provide insights into an AI-based injection molding optimization of a structural component for a premium vehicle. As part of this project for BMW AG, the optimization methodology developed by M.TEC has already got a recognition at the 20th SPE Automotive Award 2021. The presentation includes
- the particular challenges in the project,
- the motivation for an AI-based approach and its advantages,
- the proceeding of this methodology and
- the outstanding results.
Innovative methodology for injection molding challenge
The optimized support structure component, which has the dimensions of a vehicle width, features a very high level of functional integration and contains numerous inserts. In addition, the material used has a high tendency to warpage – comprehensive challenges from an injection molding perspective. M.TEC meets this task with its own, AI-based methodology for optimizing critical components and their injection molding process.
